Race Relations In The 20Th Century Were Far From Over.
Race relations in the 20th century were far from over. As time passed following the Reconstruction Era, American still had ways to go to secure basic civil rights for African Americans across the country. In fact, these relations between black Americans and white Americans at the time were multifaceted - Jim Crow laws and legal segregation, lynching, the rise of the Klu Klux Klan, and sharecropping are but a few examples of the issues relevant to black Americans. In light of the need for equality and respect, writing became an outlet for black scholars to express their discontent with the system at hand. These men like Frederick Douglass, Booker T. Washington, and W.E.B. Du Bois would usher in a new era of conversation for supporting whiteâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦In Native Son, Bigger Thomas struggles with controlling his life because there is a strong social domination by white people in Southside Chicago. As a result, many of his actions are done out of fear. For instance, Bi ggerââ¬â¢s opening dilemma in Native Son concerns his chauffeur opportunity; he has to make a decision to either ââ¬Å"take the job at Daltonââ¬â¢s and be miserableâ⬠or ââ¬Å"refuse it and starveâ⬠. Furthermore, the Narrator of Invisible Man is unable to thrive as an individual because he is black and naive. Many of his interactions in the story are based on ââ¬Å"a peculiar disposition of the eyesâ⬠of those around him, and this ultimately defines his existence as a human and not a ââ¬Å"phantom in other peopleââ¬â¢s mindâ⬠. On the other hand, Janieââ¬â¢s romantic relationships serve as her largest inhibitors regarding her daily orders under Logan and Joeââ¬â¢s social restrictions set on her. The social confines could be a result of the 20th century environment: war, hate crimes, and economic downturn ensnared the American population. The aforementioned issues are dreadful as they are, and racial disparity in America served to magnify them. In each story, black Americans are equally affected by race. This is because of the the political and social environment of America during the early 20th century. Race will be a troublesome hindrance for black American success for many years to come, and these stories merely reflect this reality. Question: Anayse the impact of demographics, social and cultural forces, economic conditions, competition from the existing organizations and technology of the hospitality industry of Australia. Answer: Introduction The hospitality industry refers to a number of fields that belongs to the service industry. Hospitality industry chiefly includes event lodging, transportation, cruise line, event planning, theme parks and other additional fields within the tourism industry. Being an exotic location, Australia is considered to be an ideal destination for hospitality organizations to flourish. In this report, the analysis of the External macro environment of the hospitality industry in Australia will be performed. This report will include analysis of the impact of demographics, social and cultural forces, economic conditions, competition from the existing organizations and technology of the hospitality industry of Australia. Discussion External macro environment The external macro environment analysis includes the uncontrollable factors that impose a high impact on the decision-making of the management of Hospitality organizations in Australia (Czinkota et al., 2014). By analyzing the above-mentioned factors, the Hospitality organizations develop the capability of understanding the market of Australia and this, in turn, will help them to implement effective strategies for enhancing the revenue of the organization. In order to assess the hospitality market of Australia PESTLE analysis has been performed below: Political factors This factor refers to the degree to which the Australian government influences the Hospitality industry of the country. Considering the fact that a huge number of the yearly tax comes from the tourism industry of Australia, the Australian government is highly supportive. According to the latest data, 8.2 million international tourists have visited Australia by the end of the month November. In order to enhance the number of tourists in Australia, the government is providing immense support for establishing fast trains and new airports (Crotts, Buhalis March 2000). Moreover, the Australian government has also approved high rise on a beach front. In order to ensure the security of the tourists as well as the residents of Australia, rapid action to prevent and defend terrorism is taken. Economic factors Being a highly developed country, Australia has a stable economic condition. As a result of its strong economy, the hospitality and tourism industry of Australia has developed the capability to incorporate modern facilities and highly advanced technologies like luxurious hotels, pubs restaurants and technologically advanced transport system. This, in turn, attracts the tourists to a great level. According to researcher, the Australian industry enjoy a revenue of 167 billion dollars by the end of the year 2015 (Kotler et al., 2016). Socio-cultural factors The socio-cultural factors in Australia highly dominate the hospitality industry in Australia. Considering the fact that the society of Australia is multicultural, citizens of Australia are found to have mutual respect and social inclusion. The religious acceptance of the majority of the citizens of Australia is high and this has imposed a highly positive impact on the tourism industry of the nation. However, the declining school population and ageing population of Australia can be considered as a major threat to the Australian Country (Hotel News, Training, Events: professional development for global leaders. 2018). Moreover, while the citizens of the major cities of Australia enjoy advanced facilities and services, individual residing in inner cities suffer from lack of hospitality facilities and services. Technological Being a highly developed country, the technology used by the hospitality industry of Australia is highly advanced. The Companies associated with Hospitality and tourism in Australia have kept the track of the changing attitude of the consumers in this era of modernization. For instance, consumers can easily book seats and order home delivery with the help of their mobile phones or laptops. Moreover, Hotels in Australia are incorporating extra guestrooms and power points for recharging (Travel News, Airline Industry News, Hotel Industry News by Skift. 2018). Along with that, satellite tracking systems along with sophisticated communication is also provided to the consumers to enhance consumer satisfaction as well as consumer loyalty. Legal Some of the legal factors that impose a high impact on the hospitality industry of Australia are health regulations, liquor license and equal employment opportunities. The level of foreign investment is high in the mentioned industry. However, the excessive amount of landing tax for the port, aircraft and dock regulation, imposes a negative impact on the mentioned industry (Research Intelligence Sabre. 2016). Environmental Considering the fact that tourism and hospitality are highly related to the environment of a nation, the Australian environmental laws impose a high impact on the hospitality industry of Australia (Pegg, Patterson Gariddo, 2012). The mentioned industry needs to abide by the environmentally friendly practices that include reducing the usage of plastics, harming endangered species and reducing pollution due to vehicles. Demographic Since the population of Australia is an ageing population, the restaurant and fast food chain of Australia is experiencing a decrement in their overall revenue. This is because the chief consumers of the fast food industry generally include consumers between the age of 15 and 40 years. The majority of the consumers of Australia include Generation X, that is individuals who are born between the years 1960 to 1070. Moreover, due to the increased cultural diversity of the citizens, the Australian hospitality industry needs to cope up with the different cultural choices of each community (Mok, Sparks Kadampully, 2013). Competition The companies associated with the hospitality industry of Australia are chiefly facing 4 types of competitors, namely, the direct competitors, the product competitors, the service competitors and the discretionary competitors. The direct competitors include the manufacturer of similar products and services. For instance, Vue de Monte and Testuya restaurants, two of the most popular retardants in Australia are direct competitors of each other (Pegg, Patterson Gariddo, 2012). Discretionary or indirect competitors of the hospitality organizations of Australia include new entries who are trying to gain consumers loyalty. Organizations also face competition from substitute product or services. For instance, since food chains offer fast services compared to that of restaurants, several office going consumers prefer dining in a food chain outlet rather than a restaurant. Apart from the local competitions, Hospitality industry of Australia also faces competition from the international marke t. Some of its major competitors in the Australian Hospitality industry are hospitality industry of Malaysia, United Kingdom and Europe. Conclusion From the above discussion, it can be concluded that the hospitality industry of Australia is enjoying huge revenue due to its excellent products and services to the consumers. The technological advancement of Australia along with its multicultural society are two major reasons behind the huge success of hospitality industry in Australia. However, some of the challenges faced by the mentioned include the ageing population and lack of services in the inner cities. In order to deal with these issues, the hospitality industry must incorporate effective strategies so that they can enhance their revenue by enhancing the number of consumers. Movie Review to Save a Life Essay Sample free essay sample
To Salvage a Life is a narrative that I feel could transform lives if viewed by teens. Since I foremost watched this I have shown to my kids and my young person group and can candidly state that it impacted at least two. The film is about Jake Taylor. a senior at Pacific High School. Jake is the typical high school athlete that has it all popular friends. a beautiful girlfriend and is be aftering on go toing college on a hoops scholarship. He parties with the most popular and everyone looks up to him. He is at times even referred to as ââ¬Å"everyoneââ¬â¢s heroâ⬠. However Jake was non ready for what was acquiring ready to go on in his life. He had been friends with a immature adult male. Roger when they were childs but due to society and the outlooks of the hoops star and how he was suppose to move and who he was suppose to hang with they had grown apart. We will write a custom essay sample on Movie Review to Save a Life Essay Sample or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Roger had saved Jakeââ¬â¢s life when they were younger and was injured doing him to walk with a hitch. He was non an jock and merely blended in with the remainder of the school. While Jake seemed to hold it all Roger had nil. no friends and was ever being made merriment of and he felt that he had no hope. In forepart of Jake. Roger comes to school one twenty-four hours and pulls a gun. Jake tries to halt Roger but it is no good he shoots himself in forepart of Jake. For hebdomads to follow Jake can non halt believing about Roger and if there had been something that he could hold done to halt him from killing himself. Jake Begins to look for replies and finds them in a relationship with God. Jakes full life alterations after this. he begins organizing new relationships and stoping 1s that are non good for him. He stops partying and recognize how shoal his life truly was. Jake realizes that the hurting and emptiness that Roger had experienced and realized that it was besides experienced by so many others at his school. Jake begins making out to the castaway. over looking some of the societal barriers that he one time would non traverse. By making this Jake saved at least one life but unluckily this cost him the life that he was usage to. This film explores that journey that teens face w ith their picks. In the film it addresses suicide. adolescent gestation. divorce. peer force per unit area and substance maltreatment every bit good as intimidation. I truly bask this film because even though it has many jobs that teens face on a day-to-day footing that their lone hope is found in a relationship with God. which is non ever the most popular pick for a high school pupil and can do jobs besides. However. in John 16:33 ( NIV ) : we are reminded that ââ¬Å"In this universe you will hold problem. But take bosom! I have overcome the universe. â⬠After reading the assigned reading this hebdomad I could see a batch of the theories in this film. One illustration would be the sensation-seeking theoretical account and the job behaviour theory. Both of these properties to striplings taking hazard that could be harmful to themselves such as Jakeââ¬â¢s imbibing. unprotected sex. and partying ( Jaffe. 1998. pg. 139 ) . Even thought Jake had began doing alterations in his life he still returned to one concluding party because as a hoops star and the fellow of a cheerleader that was what was expected of him. Merely to recognize that this was non the life he wanted to populate. Adolescents feel that they are non traveling to be harmed by these behaviours and have the attitude ââ¬Å"it is non traveling to go on to meâ⬠. nevertheless in To Salvage a Life it did go on to Jake h is girlfriend ended up acquiring pregnant and his hereafter he had all planned out changed. In the film Roger and Jake had been neighbours and best friends up until their first-year twelvemonth. Jake matured early. was tall. handsome and athletic and was accepted by his equals at school where Roger appeared to be a late maturing male child who still looked immature. still short. and compact. The dark that Jake chose non to travel with Roger was one dark after a hoops game and Roger had planned on traveling to his house with Jake and playing picture games and eating pizza. but Jake was invited to travel to a party with the ââ¬Å"inâ⬠crowd. He foremost tried to include Roger but his friends told him he could non come. This was the beginning of the terminal of this friendly relationship. The film showed Rogerââ¬â¢s tests and his battles in flashbacks and even showed him making out for aid at the same Church that Jake finally turned to. Roger felt that no one understood him that he had no other option but to kill himself that twenty-four hours. He felt that no 1 cared he even said when Jake pleaded with him non to make it ââ¬Å"why make you care? â⬠. This is an illustration of what David Elkin stated that ââ¬Å"adolescents believe that their motivations and life experience are alone or so unusual that no 1 could perchance understand or appreciate what they go throughâ⬠( Jaffe. 1998. pg. 137 ) . If Roger could hold trusted person or believed that person could understand him so possibly he could hold had another option than taking his ain life. This is a job with a batch of teens ; they feel that no 1 knows what they are traveling through and that no 1 else has of all time been through. It is so existent to them and so large about and impossible state of affairs but what everyone demand to retrieve is in Matthew 19:26 ââ¬Å"Jesus looked at them and said. ââ¬Å"With adult male this is impossible. but with God all things are possible. â⬠Puberty had a large function in Jake and his girlfriend Amy relationship they were sexually active and did non ever use protection which resulted in Amy acquiring pregnant. Harmonizing to Jaffe. ââ¬Å"parents and instructors should stress to adolescents their sensed costs of risk-taking behaviour ââ¬Å" ( pg. 140 ) . The determination doing theoretical account looks at this through low hazard striplings every bit good as high hazard striplings. Unfortunately in this film both sets of parents were covering with their ain personal jobs to see the jobs their kids were confronting. Jake had to turn up existent fast and made some life altering determination about himself. Amy and the babe. Once Jake got past badgering about what others thought of him and past egoism he was able to do good determinations and aid others. He was able to look beyond what others would state or how was his actions was traveling to impact him. There is one clip in the film when he realized that his pa has been holding an matter on his female parent that he had a set back but with Godââ¬â¢s counsel he was able to do good determination in his life. which resulted in him being able to salvage a life. I would urge this film to anyone that has a adolescent or is involved in any work covering with the young person. It deals with difficult subjects like self-destruction. adolescent gestation. abortion. divorce. intoxicant and drug maltreatment. peer force per unit area and how determinations you make can impact others lives. It is about strong-arming and how our words and actions can do so much injury to others merely for our benefit. This film besides shows how with Godââ¬â¢s grace that we can alter the manner we live. they manner that we view others every bit good as dainty them. Mentions Baugh. B. ( Director ) ( 2010 ) .
